TP. 41 RIVER VALLEYS

When you mix flatness with elevations, you get magnificent scenery that soothes the savage brain. Somewhere in a man’s brain (the minor one up in the skull) lies an organ that is mesmerized by the combination of these 2 plains that coalesce into a desirable 3rd dimension. Perhaps, nature conjured up that idea when it constructed a woman’s body: flatness and curves. Driving through a forested river valley on a bright day, the yellow sun brings out all the vibrant colors that land on the eyeball for the brain on the other side to analyze. It conjures up a kaleidoscope of images that pleases everyone, including psychopaths. Here are 4 pleasing drives in 4 states, of which 3 lie in the Driftless Area. 1: Minnesota State Highway 16. Starting in Lanesboro, Minnesota, go east along the Root River until it empties into the Mississippi River. Gorgeous! 2: Start at the intersection of Iowa Highway 76 and Iowa River Dr and go east along the Upper Iowa River until it drains into the magnificent Upper Mississippi River Valley. Fantastic! 3: Start at the intersection of Wisconsin State Highways 71 and 131 in Wilton, Wisconsin. Go south on Highway 131 following the Kickapoo River until it empties into the Wisconsin River at Wauzeka. Incredible! 4: Start at the intersection of Illinois Highways 136 and 100 near Havana, Illinois, and travel south on 100 following the Illinois River all the way to the Mississippi River at Grafton. You can jump the river on free ferries if you like. Amazing! You could start from either end from what was the listed starting point, but it is highly recommended to turn around at your end points and go back the same way, but in a different viewpoint. These River Valleys are desserts for the cranium neurons. ENJOY!
