TP. 42 FORTS

A derivative of the Latin word fortis meaning: strength; these strongholds are located in hostile areas that offer safety from foreign threats. Usually heavily reinforced and filled with armed military personnel, their job is to enforce order through violence or the threat of its use. Yeah, that pretty much sums up humans. Forts can come in all designs and material selection, but the oldest surviving ones are built out of toughness. Their description is not limited to outposts of timber stockades in remotely settled areas. They can exist in city neighborhoods and are more commonly called homes. The residents are usually of family descents and the Fort is titled after the surnames, such as: Fort Adams, Fort Madden, Fort Jones, etc….. This is a location where the members are free to install their own rules that hold authority within their walls. Forts can also exist within forts, such as teenager Timmy’s bedroom: known as Fort Timmy. Timmy then sets the rules for what flies or what dies in Fort Timmy, as long as it does not conflict with the rules of the bigger Fort that Fort Timmy is housed within. Timmy may have to invest in an expensive lockset so that his enemies don’t slice his throat in the middle of the night. Forts can also exist in industrial parks where businesses create finished goods that are sought after by the masses in exchange for loot. Fort Ford, Fort Coca-Cola, and Fort Remington are just a few of the millions of such citadels that house soldiers of industry and give citizens purpose and income so that they can build their own independent Forts. The Forts that started this whole congregation were the installed basement fortresses of Adam and Eve: Fort Box and Fort Boner. These 2 Forts are at odds most of the time and do physical battle frequently. They create new life with internal strife and cause the offspring to seek their own Forts in other locations. Thanks to man’s toxic behaviors, Forts are everywhere.
