The backdrop that this storyline takes place in is always set in a POW camp, a mental institution, a tough prison or a concentration camp. It is the background scenery of intense human suffering brought on by his fellow “fuckers” that makes the movie memorable. THE GREAT ESCAPE, SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, and ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST are just a few examples of blockbuster hits using this methodology.
