TP. 121 PEEPS

Here’s another tradition introduced by Capitalistic venders that injected this traditional treat into the Christian religious holiday, known as Easter. This yellow, marshmallow effigy of a baby chick, sporting a pair of evil black eyes painted on the face, are downright clown-creepy and are put on store shelves seasonally. Introduced by the Rodda Candy Company, they were handmade and labor intensive. Twenty-seven hours were required for assembling 1 Peep consisting of sugar, corn syrup, and pig gelatin, with the black eyes composed of food grade carnauba wax. In 1953, the Just Born Candy Company acquired Peeps, and the confectionery concoction was automated with construction time reduced to 6 minutes. It is unknown how many Peeping Toms and Terris were laid off in the transition, but history dictates that a few were traumatized enough and committed suicide; another anecdotal incident involving that creepy candy. The Peeps line was expanded to promote other holidays, such as Halloween and Christmas, and the color choices increased, including carcinogenic red (it has since been removed). This Candy also has an unverified association with the Central Intelligence Agency. It seems that the plaque in the main entrance of the CIA’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia has stars rather than names that signifies an agent that was captured and killed. Next to a few stars is a white Peep smooshed onto the plaque that indicates that an agent was captured and tortured to death. It denotes that the brave, patriotic CIA agent did not give out 1 Peep of information to our evil enemies. Whey to go.
